PROJECT HISTORY: Arts in education project 2004:
Focused on working with the East Forsyth High School Dance Program.
For 2 weeks Karola Luttringhaus worked with students on making two new works We put together a final program featuring those works, 20 minutes of alban elved dance company performances.

ABOUT EAST: The East Forsyth High School Dance program has grown into a challenging and creative outlet for students. For the past few years, the focus has been on a professional atmosphere where students are asked to think more deeply about movement. Dancers are encouraged to be strong modern technicians and to expand the definition of dance. Guest artists continue to enhance the dance experience. Mrs. Dawn Webster, the head dance teacher at East, wants students to be bold with expression and respectful of diversity.

Arts in education project 2005: Focused on working with the Glenn High School Dance Department. For 3 weeks Karola Luttringhaus worked with students on making a new work and on setting "Just Can't Stop", originally a solo work, now as a group work onto the entire class. We put together a final program featuring those works, 30 minutes of alban elved dance company performances and invited Teachers from East and Glenn High Schools to bring one of their own works as well. Slowly the final performances started to shape into a platform and showcase for artists, teachers and students to share their works.
ABOUT GLENN: The Glenn High School Dance Department is composed of students who take dance class through out the year. It is lead by Layla Guffey, dance educator. Miss Guffey has a degree in dance education from the University Of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has been teaching at Glenn High School and East Forsyth High School for three years. The goal of the dance class is to encourage students to express themselves and to learn that dance is art. The department put on four dance concerts throughout the year. Concerts are made of students’ choreography and faculty choreography. Students participate in county wide student choreography showing, UNCG high school dance day, and all county dance day. The department has participated in an internship with the North Carolina School of the Arts. The department has grown dramatically for the last three years. The students of Glenn High School are enthusiastic and open to working with the alban elved dance company.

Arts in education project 2006: Focused on working with the Mount Tabor High School Dance Program. "Wingspan" was the title for this year's arts in education project. The students choreographed most of the dance with Ms Lüttringhaus only as a project director and guidance, creating the outline and structure for the works. Since January Karola Lüttringhaus has been working with Mount Tabor Dance Students in class. The works shown in this showcase are entirely new works.
