NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED!

The community circle provides the framework for a soul journey. We move - together or alone - through the space, as we wish. There is no teacher telling us what to do, or why. The circle is a movement experience and an experiment. It is an open improvisation - honoring life, soul, body and mind, yourself and the others. Music is playing the entire time, building from slow and introverted to faster, then chaotic tempo, and finishing with a meditative slow final song.

In the circle we experience motivation from within and motivation from external sources. We feel and express energy and movement in waves, patterns and rhythms. Each movement serves a purpose, yet consciously we might not be aware of it at the moment. The circle fills a need within people that seek to fully express themselves through movement exploration; the circle is for people that seek community, individuality and judgment free expression.

3PM opening circle (welcoming and introduction)
3:15-4:15 free form movement exploration
4:15-4:30 closing circle (share your experience wiht others if you like)

There are a few rules of the circle:
- respect the safety, comfort and dignity of others
- respect yourself
- the circle is a non-sexual, non-sensual environment - no exceptions!
- no shoes, unless soft soled dance slippers, (there is a Marley Dance Floor)
- this is a non-verbal space, you may make sounds, but not talk
- focus is on expressing yourself through movement however you wish
- no teacher will tell you what to do
- you will be dancing/moving with others; you can interact, but you don't have to
- no food is allowed in the space, you can bring water (there are water fountains as well)
- respect the space we dance in, respect the dance cooperative and its staff
- the Community circle is sacred, it is a personal and spiritual experience, but it is not religious or 'preachy'
- dance at your own risk ( a liability waiver will need to be signed the first time you attend)

Who comes to the circle:
- anyone curious about movement
- anyone who loves to dance, or jump, or roll, leap, spin, or move in slow motion, or sit and listen to music
- people with handicaps
- everyone is welcome!
- there is no age limit
- there is no need for dance experience
- the space does not have a ramp or elevator (the dance studio is on the 2nd floor)
- children are welcome if accompanied by an adult and do not distract others
- no childcare services provided

What to wear:
- wear layers of clothes, the space can be cold at first
- modest attire please
- there is no need for dance clothes. regular street clothes are fine (but if you want to roll around on the floor you might want to wear clothes you don't mind doing that in and that are comfortable and allow free movement)

Be curious! Be open!
